The session will teach you and your guest new skills and build your sailing knowledge rounding off with a race against other crews to be first to the finish line. The day will start with tea/ coffee at the West Quay where you will be introduced to your fully qualified skipper and the rest of the crew. You will receive a safety briefing and overview of the day then don buoyancy aids and waterproofs. Next it’s time to head to the boat and get familiarised with the yacht and learn all techniques required for your sailing experience before heading out to sea. You will learn everything from raising the sails to helming the boat at speed around the race course. You and your fellow crew will practice the quickest and most efficient method of manoeuvring the yacht as a team. You will soon find out first hand how fast and responsive these vessels really are! All the yachts in the flotilla are identical so to win a race you will have work well as a crew and employ some cunning race tactics to give you the edge. Your skipper will be with you every step of the way and offer useful hints, tips and tactical advice to ensure you get the most out of your time. At the 10 minute warning, the skipper will then cover a few vital race rules while you prepare for the start of the all important race lasting around 20 mins. The yachts are easy to handle yachts are designed for exhilarating close quarter racing. The experience will round off back in the clubhouse bar where you will be debriefed on your individual/ team performances with an awards presentation for the overall best crew of the day. |
