This is most certainly a day to remember! Dare to dive with the Great White Shark and experience a day you will never forget. South Africa has the privilege of access to Great White Sharks - if you know when and where to go. Now open to the general public, you too can enjoy first hand experience of the mysterious Great White Shark. Observing and diving with Great White Sharks under the correct conditions and guidance is a wonderful experience. Even 'anti-shark' people return from an expedition or diving trip with love, and certainly respect, for this creature. Your day will include... Continental Breakfast: You will make your own way to "White Shark Lodge" in Kleinbaai, near cape Town, where you will enjoy a continental breakfast. After breakfast you will head out to sea... Day at sea and a lecture on board: The skipper of the day gives a short lecture on shark anatomy and behaviour. He explains how they work with the sharks in the area. You will spend 4 to 6 hours at sea, depending on the frequency of shark visits to the boat. Diving and viewing: The cage itself takes 2 to 3 people at a time. Each person spends approximately 20 minutes in the cage. All scuba equipment, including 7mm wetsuits, is provided - you don't need a scuba licence to cage dive. Lunch on board: Lunch is included on board, which consists of sandwiches, soft drinks and assorted snacks. Afternoon tea: Upon our return to the harbour, you are invited to tea, coffee, biscuits or scones back at White Shark Lodge. "Shark Team" is the vessel you will board, which is a 11-meter, 4-ton catamaran with all the latest electronic and safety equipment. The boat was custom-built for shark diving, so there is plenty of space for everyone to view the sharks in comfort. The crew consists of experienced Skippers, a qualified Paramedic, a Dive Master and friendly, helpful staff. They operate with the benefit of 15 years' experience in Great White Shark research, conservation and eco-tourism, behind them. |
